Nigerians are gearing up for the country’s general election on Saturday February 16, with more than 70 candidates vying for the presidency. However, President Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) - the two main parties - stand a realistic chance of winning the poll. Both Buhari and Abubakar hail from northern Nigeria and both have experience in government. Abubakar is a successful businessman who analysts say is capable of leading Nigeria out of its political and economic crises, while current Buhari is largely viewed as a spent force who has failed to revive Nigeria.
